Since going vegan in 2014 the founder Kia has found it difficult to find good quality natural and 100% vegan make-up with affordable prices. The natural beauty market seemed to always be divided into two categories: expensive but good quality or cheap but varied quality. On top of that you can still to this day almost forget about finding 100% vegan make-up brands in your nearest make-up store. For us it was clear what was missing in the market and we knew we weren’t the only ones who thought this, and this is why we started Kia-Charlotta with the following mission:

Kia originally comes from Finland but has lived in Germany since 2014. She holds a master’s degree in international marketing and speaks fluent German. She has lived a vegan lifestyle since 2014 and has never looked back. In 2014 when Kia went vegan, she realized how difficult it was finding vegan beauty products. And since many products were not labeled as such back then, she needed to start learning about ingredients. Whilst Kia had fun learning about ingredients, she also knew that it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea and that there had to be an easier way for people to find vegan make-up and beauty products. This is ultimately what led her start Kia-Charlotta in 2017 with Alex.
Alex is Kia’s fiancé and a “born manager”. After 6 years of a successful management career in a large cooperation, Alex stepped down to pursue his long-time aspiration of starting, running and growing a company with a deeper meaning and impact by joining Kia in this mission.
