Application tip:

For best results we recommend two coats of nail polish. With pastel tones three coats is best. For an extra long-lasting manicure apply a base coat before the nail polish and finish off your manicure with a top coat. This way the nail polish will last approx. 4-7 days. 

Lipstick

Our lipstick is easy to apply directly to the lips. For a precise result, we recommend a lipstick brush. Start by applying lipstick to the upper lip. Sweep it from the inside out to the edge of your lips. Then you can continue with the lower lip and apply the lipstick from the inside to the outside.

Nailpolish

We recommend two thin coats of nail polish to get the best opaque result. For an extra long-lasting manicure, we recommend applying a base coat before the nail polish and a top coat afterwards.

Nailpolish

What’s in our nail polish and why?

ETHYL ACETATE – A solvent which helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates when on your nails so that the nail polish is able to harden. Ethyl acetate has a fruity smell but in nail polish it smells slightly stingy and potent. The solvents in nail polish are what give nail polish it’s typical smell. Ethyl acetate can be petrochemically derived or plant derived. In Kia-Charlotta nail polish shades it is 100% plant derived.

BUTYL ACETATE – Another solvent which helps keep the nail polish liquid in the bottle but evaporates when on your nails so that the nail polish is able to harden. Butyl acetate also has a fruity smell but in nail polish it smells slightly stingy and potent and also gives nail polish it’s typical nail polish ”smell”. Butyl acetate can be petrochemically derived or plant derived. In Kia-Charlotta nail polish shades it is 100% plant derived.

NITROCELLULOSE – A film forming polymer which, once the solvents have evaporated, hardens on your nails and forms a hard film on top of your nails. In order for nail polish to solidify as well as last long on your nails, it needs a film forming polymer and nitrocellulose is one of the safest as well as best quality film forming polymers.

ADIPIC ACID/NEOPENTYL GLYCOL/TRIMELLITIC ANHYDRIDE COPOLYMER – Film forming polymer. With nitrocellulose, this ingredient helps keep the nail polish hard and smooth on your nails as well as helps with longevity.

TRIETHYL CITRATE ALCOHOL – In nail polish this ingredient is used as a plasticizer. Plasticizers make nail polish more flexible and increase their durability. They help make the nail polish less prone to cracking or chipping.

STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE – A thickening agent which helps keep the pigments suspended and helps maintain the smooth and thick consistency of the nail polish.

DIACETONE ALCOHOL – A solvent which also helps give a glossy finish for the nail polish.

MALTOL - Maltol is a naturally occurring organic compound which is often used as a flavoring agent. In our nail polish however, we don’t include maltol for the flavor, but for something quite different. Maltol has proven to significantly minimize the formation of nitrosamines which can be formed in very small amounts from nitrocellulose. This is a great impact which makes our nail polish even better than before.

PENTAERYTHRIL TETRAISOSTEARATE – A liquid emollient which increases viscosity and gives the nail polish its shine and gloss.

PHOSPHORIC ACID - A mineral acid which is used to control the pH of the nail polish

PIGMENTS - These are what give the nail polish their colour, shine, shimmer and/or metallic tone. Pigments are denoted with their CI numbers. Metallic, glitter or shimmer shades may also contain mica.

Vegan

All Kia-Charlotta products are vegan, which means that we do not use any animal ingredients in our products. For example, we do not use beeswax or lanolin - also known as wool fat or lanolin - which are usually added to mascaras and also lipsticks for a smooth texture. At Kia-Charlotta, for example, such ingredients are replaced by valuable, natural oils and plant extracts such as those from jojoba oil or goji berries. Furthermore, as a vegan cosmetics company, we are proud to be registered with "PETA" and "The Vegan Society".

Eco-friendly

At Kia-Charlotta, we place great value on naturalness and sustainability. Not only do we pay attention to high-quality ingredients, but we also attach great importance to sustainable packaging. That's why the applicators of our mascara, as well as the lipstick, are made of a mono-material & 100% PCR plastic (post-consumer recycled). The material is 100% reycelet and therefore 100% recyclable after use. Thus, we close the recycling loop and ensure that no new plastic waste is created by our products.

Furthermore, our lipsticks and mascara are produced climate neutrally in Germany.
