As the weather is getting crisp and cold you might start to notice that your hands and nails feel dry, they break easier and they just look and feel uncared for. In todays’ video and blog we talk about three of the best, affordable and easy-to-find oils that are going to do wonders to your skin, cuticles and nails.
3 Amazing Oils for Your Nails
Our hands and nails go through so much during the day whether that be the constant exposure to water, handling of cleaning products, opening cans and, in winter, the exposure to cold and dry air all of which results into dry skin, cracking cuticles and breaking nails. This is why it is so important to take good care of our hands and nails especially during the colder seasons and applying some oil on to your skin and nails might just be that remedy your hands & nails need. Here are three of the best oils to use on your hands and nails.
1. Argan Oil
Argan oil is derived from the kernels of the argan tree which are found in Morocco which is why most argan oil comes from there. In Morocco argan oil is used in cooking as well as in skin care and it is a must have beauty item for women whether that be for their skin, hair or nails. Due to its high vitamin and its essential fatty acids, Argan oil helps strengthen and moisturize the nails and cuticles. Argan oil is also rich in vitamin E which helps protect your skin and cuticles from damage.
2. Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is the liquid wax that is in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) plant which is most commonly found in southern Arizona, southern California and northwestern Mexico. It has been said that jojoba oil has a very similar chemical composition to the oil that human skin produces which is why our skin often reacts wonderfully to jojoba oil. Jojoba oil is rich in fatty acdis, in fact almost 100% of jojoba oil consists of fatty acid esters which makes it easy for this oil to penetrate through your skin and keep it nourished and moisturized. Jojoba oil also has natural antifungal properties which is particularly helpful against nail fungus. Finally, since jojoba oil is not really an “oil” but rather a wax, it doesn’t feel too oily on the hands and is quickly absorbed into your skin which makes this an easy-to-use oil all day long.
We also included Jojoba oil in our DIY nail & cuticle oil recipe which we created a while ago. Check out the blog post here.
3. Oli Oil
We absolutely wanted to include olive oil in this list because it is probably an oil that 99% of you will have at home. Olive oil is however not only good in cooking but it is also amazing for your nails. Olive oil is rich in polyphenols which have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which will help keep your nails strong. Olive oil is also rich in vitamin E which is not only very moisturizing but also makes it easy for your skin and nails to absorb the olive oil. This can help to accelerate the growth of your nails. We suggest indulging with an olive oil nail bath by soaking your nails in warm olive oil for approx. 20 min once a week.
In summary, almost any oil is amazing to give some much-needed moisture and nutrients for your nails and cuticles, these three are simply particularly good because of their vitamin and antioxidant content as well as anti-fungal properties. Remember that it is a combination of good diet, drinking enough water, exercise as well as external skin care which will ultimately result in healthy & strong nails. When your nails are healthy, they will also grow faster and stronger. Which oils is your favorite oil to use for hand and nail care?
