4 Easy DIY Hand Scrubs

Hand scrubs (or any scrub for that matter) is something that is actually so easy to make yourself at home it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to actually buy one. Today for example we are sharing four super easy and simple (hand) scrub recipes which you can easily make at home with ingredients that already in your cupboard + they take max 5 minutes to make. So why would buy one?

WHY EXFOLIATION IS IMPORTANT?
Exfoliation is important for all parts of our body but also our hands mainly because it removes the barrier of dead skin cells so that your skin can better absorb moisture which in turn makes our skin look young and feel smooth. In fact, if you don’t exfoliate it can leave your skin looking dull and rough even if you would regularly moisturize because the dead skin cells simply don’t allow any moisture to penetrate through your skin. So, remember to exfoliate if you want your skin to look young & healthy!

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I EXFOLIATE
It’s good to regularly exfoliate your skin and we would recommend once a week. You shouldn’t over exfoliate because that can leave your skin irritated and dry. Our hands are a slight exception when it comes to exfoliating where its recommended to exfoliate at least once a week but one little scrub a day after washing your hands is also ok. Just make sure that when you scrub, scrub gently and it’s also best to always moisturize your skin and hands after exfoliation.

Now let’s get into the DIY hand scrubs. Make sure you check out the video above to see how we made them.

1. VITAMIN E & SUGAR SCRUB
Vitamin E oil is one of the most moisturizing oils and is especially good for anyone with very dry hands. Vitamin E oil has been said to help heal wounds and its moisturizing benefits can help prevent cracked cuticles and dry skin around the nails. This is why this nail scrub is especially good for your hands (and nails). It’s also very, VERY easy to make:

Ingredients:
2 tbsp Sugar
20-25 Drops of Vitamin E Oil
Mix the two ingredients in a cup or container. The result is sandy with and slightly oily finish when scrubbing your hands.

2. COFFEE & SUGAR SCRUB
This scrub is perfect for any of you coffee lovers! The scrub leaves your hands smelling beautifully of coffee whilst leaving a smooth and soft finish. On top of that coffee, when applied to our skin, is said to have anti-inflammatory properties as well as anti-aging benefits.

Ingredients:
¼ Cup Coffee
¼ Cup Sugar
1/8 Cup Olive Oil
Mix all ingredients together.

3. COCONUT & MAPLE SYRUP SCRUB
If you love the sweet smell of coconut than you are going to be obsessed with this scrub. We also added some maple syrup into this one to give a smooth texture and of course, maple syrup (similarly to honey), has antioxidant properties and can help with wrinkles, dryness and redness. The sugar and salt are the exfoliating agents in this scrub.

Ingredients:
1 tbsp Coconut Oil
1 tbsp Maple Syrup
¼ Cup Sugar
¼ Cup Sea Salt
Mix all ingredients together.

4. LEMON ESSENTIAL OIL SCRUB
This is a classic scrub and is also probably the easiest one to make. We used lemon essential oil, but you can also use lemon. The lemon essential oil in this scrub acts as a detoxifying agent and it nourishes, cleanses and exfoliates your skin. When you use lemon, essential oil make sure you apply it on your skin only with a carrier oil e.g. olive oil.

Ingredients:
¼ Cup Sugar
20 Drops lemon essential oil (or sub with juice of half a lemon)
1/8 Cup Olive Oil
Mix all ingredients together.
